Welcome! We hope our website, launched in November 2010, will connect, inform and entertain all graduates of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) School of Nursing, Toronto, as well as other nurses and researchers interested in nursing history .
Our unique training prepared us to be excellent nurses, not only in our chosen specialty of paediatrics and not only at the Hospital for Sick Children, but in the world beyond. Our Alumnae members have made invaluable contributions to the care of families everywhere. Our legacy continues.
Here you will learn more about our school’s history – a story that unfolded within the walls of one of the World’s foremost paediatric hospitals and continues to play out through the lives and careers of proud graduates living and working around the world. Learn about the work of the Alumnae Association, an organization that served the greater good of the hospital and its students and has kept graduates connected from its inception in 1903, seventeen years after the School of Nursing was founded. The Association officially devolved in 2012 but where there are endings, there are also beginnings. The Alumnae will leave a lasting legacy to the Hospital for Sick Children through The Alumnae Association of the School of Nursing Endowment Fund which will provide learning opportunities to nurses for many years to come and also support the work of the Hospital Archives. (See Endowment Fund in banner). This website will also continue to tell our story.
We hope our shared history, our stories and our ongoing impact will inspire and delight you!
