30-Jun-1940 – 27-Feb-2022

Iris Pauline Yemchuk June 30, 1940 – February 27, 2022 Iris was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan to loving parents Thomas Tony Yemchuk who passed away in 1961 and Julia Yemchuk Ochrimuk nee Baschuk who passed away in 2000.

She always valued her Ukrainian heritage as her maternal grandparents were original prairie settlers.

Iris is predeceased by her siblings, stepdad Peter Ochrimuk who passed away in 1986 and her furry family Dexter and Sassy.

When Iris was 18 months old her family moved to Port Colborne where she attended Dewitt Carter Public School and Port Colborne High School.  At the age of 18 she ventured to the big city of Toronto to enter the Sick Children’s School of Nursing, Class of 1961.  Iris was honoured to spend the remainder of her career at Sick Kids.

Iris enjoyed oil painting, aqua fit, bowling, crocheting, knitting, reading, puzzles, travelling and chatting.

Her greatest joys in life were her friends who Iris considered family.  Her longest friendships were with Eva McLaughlin, her “chosen” sister and Tess Flynn Khoury, her “soul” sister.

“I can’t thank you enough for your love and support.”

“Thank you to the Princess Margaret Staff for their care and support and to all who enriched my life.  See you soon.  Love Iris.”
