Passed away at KGH after a brief illness in her 78th year on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Predeceased by husband Peter (2020). Survived by sons Alan (Sara) and Paul and grandchildren Taylor, Tristan, Paige and Stephanie who will deeply miss Grandma, along with sibling David (Wendy), brothers-in-law John and Mike and sister-in-law Karen (Rick). Will be missed by Tracy and Steve Hart, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand nephews and grand nieces and many friends. Predeceased by sisters-in-law Lynn (Don) and Chris, and parents John and Adeleen Yeates.
Patricia graduated as a Registered Nurse from Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto in 1965. She began her distinguished career at Scarborough General Hospital then moved to Trenton Memorial Hospital where she spent 30+ years in Pediatrics. Under her care, her sons were constantly reminded of how caring she was to their friends. She finished nursing with a stint in the pharmacy before retiring. She worked tirelessly with the local nurse’s union and was President for 5 years while at TMH.
As great as she was at being a parent or nurse, she was an exceptional grandparent. She spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren and cherished every moment.
Always one to give her time, Patricia volunteered at her sons’ schools and later in life at the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Frankford Figure Skating Club and Hospice Quinte.
She was a talented seamstress, who made many a costume and even the occasional wedding dress. Her knitting and crocheting prowess kept many in the family warm in the winter with sweaters, blankets, toques and socks.
She enjoyed many adventures with her husband Peter over the years. They loved to travel together wherever they went, especially by car. Long car rides with no particular agenda, but time to stop and smell the roses.
On the golf course, at the bowling alley, or around the table playing cards, Pat loved spending time with family and friends. Holidays and birthdays were always special with her impeccable wrapping and personal notes attached. Birthdays will not be the same without one of her cakes and Christmas won’t be the same without her endless supply of cookies.
At the end of the day Pat was happiest relaxing in her chair with her feet up, a good stiff drink in hand and one of her furry friends in her lap. She had earned it.
